Our Story
At Old Ways Farm, we keep things simple and intentional. What started as a small garden and a love for growing our own food slowly became a way of life centred on seasonal living, homegrown ingredients, and making the things we use every day with our own hands.
Our beginnings
Cedrick and I met while I was in high school. We quickly fell in love and moved in together, settling next door to his family’s farm in Cannamore, Ontario. I went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in French, while he worked as a plumber and helped on the farm during evenings and weekends.
Growing & Creating
Every year, we tended to our big garden. As our family grew, I began making salves as a natural way to care for our children’s ailments. We gradually became more intentional about the food we ate—where it came from and how it was raised. We started raising cattle, chickens, and hogs the way they’re meant to live: with plenty of space and access to fresh air and sunshine.
Farmstead Life
In the thick of 2020, we opened a tiny farmstand at the end of our driveway, where we sold sweet corn. Soon after, Cedrick was finally able to work full-time on the family farm, and I left my admin job to homeschool our children. It felt like a switch had flipped—we fully embraced our new way of living.
I learned soapmaking as a way to use the tallow from our cattle and truly fell in love with the process. Cedrick built me (using repurposed airplane motor crates!) the most amazing four-season greenhouse, where I could start my flower seedlings. And then, our farmstand dream truly became a reality.
We’ve had our share of flukes and learned something new every year, but being able to work with our hands and create natural, sustainable products for our community truly fills our hearts.
Our Promise
Today, our little farm in Cannamore is where we raise our family, grow our food, and craft the soaps, balms and goods we share with you. We work in small batches, using simple ingredients, natural colourants, pure essential oils and botanicals we grow or gather whenever possible. Everything we make begins here — shaped by our hands, our home, and the rhythm of the seasons.
Our hope is that each product carries a bit of that feeling with it: wholesome care, rooted in the land.
